As Christmas in Davidson approaches, it's time for dog lovers to start thinking about parading their pooches in the Doggie Fashion Show.

Christmas in Davidson is pleased to announce that the ever popular Doggie Fashion Show will be held on Friday from 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm on December 5th at the Davidson Library stage. Come dress your best friend in a ridiculous outfit and join the town for a night of doggie merriment.

Doggie Fashion Show organizers are requiring dog owners to pre-register to ensure a spot in the event. Participation will be limited to the first 30 dogs registered. If you would like to participate please click HERE to fill out the application form.

All dogs must be on a leash and within the full control of their handler at all times. Donations will be accepted at the event to benefit the Davidson Dog Park, a $5 donation is suggested for entrants.

The annual event was revived in 2009 after a hiatus, and annually attracts some of the more unusually dressed canines in town.

The very first Doggie Fashion Show was held in 1988 in front of the Davidson Post Office. Around Davidson columnist Brenda Barger recalls: "That year, three elementary age boys even appeared as an entry - two under a sheet with ears and a tail and a third holding the collar and leash. It was perfect small-town Davidson. This has always been the 'signature dish' for Christmas in Davidson."
